Conference of State Parties to the CRPD – June 2017

The largest and most diverse international disability meeting in the world took place at the United Nations in New York. Activists and experts called for greater recognition of a range of human rights and fundamental freedoms for persons with disabilities, while focusing on supporting the most vulnerable among them, including those who are affected by humanitarian crises and natural disasters.

From June 13 to 15, 2017, the Disability Rights Fund team participated in the 10th session of the Conference of States Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) at the UN Headquarters.

Our team shared experiences of DPO participation in SDG implementation and reporting. We also advocated for the inclusion of women with disabilities and shared how donors could strengthen their practices to include women with disabilities.

We organized 2 side events with our partners: the Disability Rights Advocacy Fund, the Permanent Mission of Canada to the UN, the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom to the UN, the Permanent Mission of Australia to the UN, and the International Disability Alliance
