To strengthen national advocacy by women with disabilities through the organizational platform of Women with Disabilities Development Foundation, using the CRPD as a primary tool. The project will carry out advocacy to ensure greater recognition and inclusion of women with disabilities in the implementation of the new Disability Rights and Protection Act 2013, and will also ensure that the Domestic Violence Act 2010 aligns with the CRPD. The project also seeks to increase women with disabilities’ participation in the Violence Against Women (VAW) national group and continue to influence implementation of the National Advancement of Women Policy to ensure it reflects the rights of women with disabilities and the CRPD. Finally, the applicant will carry out workshops among grassroots women with disabilities in Barisal Division to gather and contribute information on their rights to a civil society report on CEDAW being produced in 2014. Women with Disabilities Development Foundation will be part of the group writing this alternative report and will add the perspective of women with disabilities and the CRPD, drawing from these consultations.
