DRF/DRAF commends the work of the disability movement in Peru to advance progressive reforms to implement the CRPD including: The adoption of a national law on the rights of persons with disabilities, one of the best-known examples of disability-specific legislation aligned with the CRPD. This process was driven by Sociedad y Discapacidad (SODIS) and the national umbrella, CONFENADIP with support from the Disability Rights Advocacy Fund.  Reforms also include: a legal reform process to abolish substituted decision-making led by Sociedad y Discapacidad (SODIS) and supported by the Disability Rights Advocacy Fund and the repeal of laws and policies permitting forced sterilization of persons with disabilities.
