66th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66)
The 66th session of the Commission on the Status of Women took place from 14 to 25 March 2022. Due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, CSW66 took place in a hybrid format. All side events and parallel events were fully virtual. DRF/DRAF attend annually and look forward to attending and hosting side events.
While we wish we could be in person, the virtual meeting format is safer and more inclusive–anyone who would like to attend can. Thank you to all who registered to tune in to these conversations. If you have questions, please email Dwi Ariyani, Regional Head of Programs for Asia, [email protected] and Aapurv Jain, Associate Director of Bilateral Relations, [email protected].

Key Intersections: Gender, Disability and Climate Change, 23 March 2022, 10am ET
Watch and share the English recording of this important conversation. Watch French recording here.
Climate change is adversely affecting the lives, well-being, and livelihoods of the world’s poorest, among them a disproportionate number of persons with disabilities, especially women and girls with disabilities. Women and girls with disabilities face multiple forms of discrimination due to the intersectional challenges of ableism and sexism. This event provided an overview of the impact of climate change on women and girls with disabilities, their engagement in climate change-aligned work, and learnings about steps being taken by different stakeholders such as the UN, donor agencies, OPDs, and NGOs working at the intersection of climate change, disaster risk reduction, disability, and gender.
Climate change advocacy at the intersection of gender and disability, 16 March 2022, 2:30pm ET
This event highlighted the impact of climate change and natural disasters on the rights of women and girls with disabilities in the Pacific region. This event was organized in partnership with Women Enabled International.
Women’s Leadership to Tackle Climate Change & Disasters, 16 March 2022; 8am ET
This event explored how women of all ages in all their diversity are taking leadership in climate and disaster-related issues to help shape a peaceful and “more caring and better world”. The Sendai Framework guiding principles 19(g) states that “gender, age, disability and cultural perspective should be integrated in all policies and practices, and women and youth leadership should be promoted.” We aim to address this topic with an intersectional perspective.
This event was organized in partnership with Soka Gakkai International.
